Welcome to
The matchmaking platform for the Dutch trade mission Offshore Wind to the Baltic States
From 10 to 14 April 2022 a Dutch delegation of companies will visit the Baltic States (Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania). This Dutch trade mission will capitalise on the opportunities in the Baltic States (Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania) in the field of offshore wind energy.
We invite companies and other stakeholders in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to join this trade mission and to discover cooperation opportunities in the renewable energy sector.
How to join?
By registering on this platform you can pre-schedule meetings with the incoming Dutch participant companies and vice versa. These meetings will take place during the physical matchmaking on Monday 11 April (Tallinn) and Tuesday 12 April (Riga).
Companies and stakeholders from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania can register for free on this website with a company profile. For Dutch companies the registration is already closed.
After the trade mission, the matchmaking platform will stay open for two more weeks to give you the opportunity to get in contact / share contact details with all participating Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian and Dutch companies and stakeholders that you did not manage to reach out to.
Opportunities in wind energy
The Baltic states offer opportunities in the field of offshore wind energy. This is apparent from the market report 'Export Markets Assessment for the Dutch Offshore Wind Industry'. The report was drawn up by consultancy firm BLIX, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania border the Baltic Sea and offer many opportunities for the offshore wind sector. According to the European industry association WindEurope, 83 gigawatts of offshore wind power are planned for this region by 2050. At least 8 gigawatts of this are specifically planned in the 3 Baltic States.
Offshore wind farms and grid expansion
The Baltic states see wind energy as a good means for an independent energy supply that also contributes to the national sustainability goals. Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are working on feasibility and design studies for the first offshore wind farms. The first tenders are expected from 2023 onwards.
In addition, the local grid operator is paying a lot of attention to expanding the (offshore) grid. This offers collaboration opportunities between Dutch and Baltic companies in the areas of:
- Development, construction and maintenance of wind farms
- Consultancy
- Financing
- Offshore installation and transportation
- Engineering
- Port infrastructure and logistics
- Training and education
